Maintenance
All about filter elements
Replacing the filter element is an equipment maintenance task that owners of construction machinery cannot avoid. The official Cat® (Cat) always recommends that everyone purchase and replace the filter element produced by the original factory to keep the machine in the best working condition. There are also many machine enthusiasts who choose relatively cheaper filter elements from other brands. The quality is not too bad, but it still has a certain impact on the operation of the equipment. Today, the editor will share some knowledge about filter elements with you all.
The commonly used filter elements in construction machinery include air filter elements, oil filter elements, diesel filter elements and hydraulic oil filter elements. Filter elements are designed to filter out impurities in the air or oil, preventing them from entering the working mechanism such as the engine, thereby protecting the normal operation of key components.
Take the oil filter element as an example: It filters the circulating oil in the lubrication system. The filtered oil then enters the components that need lubrication, reducing the wear of impurities on the parts. The impurities and dust being filtered will be adsorbed on the oil filter element, just like a mask needs to be replaced regularly to filter out smog. During the use of the filter element, its filtering effect becomes weaker and weaker. To ensure the best condition, the filter element needs to be replaced in time to protect the engine and other mechanisms.
Generally speaking, when maintaining excavators, it is recommended that you replace the original factory filter elements. Filter elements from other brands are not unusable, but inferior filter elements cannot be seen from the outside. The material of the filter paper inside is quite different from that of the original factory, and the reduction in filtration accuracy will cause serious damage to the machine.
The filtering capacity of the oil filter element is reduced, causing the engine oil containing impurities to be directly sprayed onto various bearings, cylinders and cylinder liners of the engine, etc., increasing the wear of the engine's working parts. Over a long period of time, it will definitely require more maintenance and cost more repairs than others, which is not worth it.
Good maintenance can ensure that the machine remains in the best working condition, operates continuously without interruption, reduces maintenance costs, and brings you more profits.
