Identification of pistons

There are many types of imported pistons, and different engines are equipped with different piston models. In China, the majority of imported pistons are from Japan. In terms of construction machinery and heavy-duty vehicles, the major manufacturers include Japan's Automatic Industries Co., Ltd. and IZUMI. Chuanhe Precision Company, with the product name KSK; Fuji Sakurako Industry Co., LTD., with the brand name SA KURA. Among them, the pistons of the IZUMI brand are most widely used in the imported construction machinery and heavy-duty vehicles in our country.

(1) Check the outer packaging. First, check if the packaging box is of the same quality as the original imported ones. Pay special attention to the GENUINE PARTS label on the packaging box. The genuine parts label is printed with "genuine parts", part number, name (PISTON) and the mark of complete machine production. These marks are all in English, and the printing is clear and the color is consistent.

(2) Check the markings on the piston. The pistons are marked with brand 眚, part number, manufacturer, etc. Take the Mitsubishi diesel engine of Japan as an example. The inner side of the piston skirt is cast with models such as 8DC8, 8DC9, 6D22, etc. The "Mitsubishi" mark is cast on the model. On the other side of the piston skirt, the logo of the piston manufacturer, IZUMI, is cast. The cast logo is convex, neat and precise, and easy to recognize. The top of the piston is engraved with the part number, such as Mitsubishi ME××××××. Depending on the size of the outer diameter, it is engraved with the group number (A, B or C). The standard piston is engraved with the word "STD", and the enlarged piston is engraved with the numbers 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 or 1.00. The top of the piston is also engraved with the installation direction mark UP↑. All the engraved marks on the top of the piston are very clear and regular.

(3) Check the smoothness of the piston's surface. The processing technology of genuine pistons is meticulous and free of any defects. No matter how rough the workmanship of imitation pistons is, it is relatively easy to distinguish the quality of the piston processing technology from the surface of the piston skirt and the piston hole part.

(4) Some imported pistons have corrosion-resistant high-nickel cast iron embedded in the first piston ring groove, such as the pistons of Mitsubishi 8DC series engines. This is also a criterion for identifying whether the piston is a genuine part.

(5) Measurement of the appearance dimensions of imported pistons. The top of the piston is a perfect circle with the smallest diameter. It starts to take on an elliptical shape from below the first compression ring groove. The elliptical shape gradually enlarges and reaches its maximum at the oil ring groove. It then gradually decreases downward from the oil ring groove and becomes slightly elliptical at the lower part of the skirt. The diameter of the middle part of the piston skirt is the largest. If it does not meet the standards mentioned above, it is not a genuine product. Although the pistons of each model are different, the rules are the same.

(6) Weigh a group of pistons of the same model to see if their weights are the same. Genuine pistons are all manufactured with great precision. For genuine piston parts of the same model, their weights should be the same. Some pistons have quality parameters engraved on the top. If they do not match those of several pistons in the same group during inspection, they are not genuine products.
