On December 11th, an expert team from Binxuan Agricultural Research Institute was inspecting the soil improvement situation on the experimental field that had undergone deep ploughing and deep loosening operations. The experimental field for this deep ploughing operation is located in Binzhou National Agricultural Science and Technology Park and belongs to the reclaimed farmland on the southern shore of the Bohai Bay. For a long time, due to the formation mechanism of the soil and bad farming habits, moderate to severe salinization has been widespread.

Last spring, the Binxuan Agricultural Research Institute used a deep ploughing, crushing and loosening machine to carry out deep ploughing operations on 260 mu of experimental fields. According to the plan, the cultivated land per mu of the experimental field is divided into six plots with different loosening depths designed: 25 cm for plot 1, 35 cm for Plot 2, 40 cm for plots 3 and 4, and 50 cm for plots 5 and 6. The following year, both the summer winter wheat harvest and the autumn corn harvest in the experimental field achieved bumper harvests. After expert evaluation, the number of ears per mu and the thousand-grain weight far exceeded expectations.

Deeply ploughing the plots where the soil crushing and loosening machine has been used not only activates the soil but also improves the salinity and alkalinity. The No. 5 and No. 6 plots with a deep ploughing and deep loosening degree of 50 centimeters have the highest yield per mu. The average yield of grain per mu (for both wheat and corn, the same below) is 150 kilograms higher than that of the saline-alkali land without deep root ploughing and deep loosening, with an increase of more than 20%. When the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 plots are deeply cultivated to a depth of 25 to 40 centimeters, the average yield per mu is about 100 kilograms higher than that of other saline-alkali plots in the same area, with an increase of 10 to 15 kilograms. The most severely saline-alkali No. 3 plot, after being deeply loosened by a super-crushing and soil-loosening machine to a depth of 40 centimeters, broke the soil saline-alkali compaction layer, settled the saline-alkali substances, and improved the soil environment. As a result, it achieved an extremely ideal yield, with the average yield per mu being 50 kilograms higher than that of wheat per mu in other saline-alkali lands in the area. It can be seen from this that the soil quality of the plots where the deep ploughing, crushing and loosening machine has been used has significantly improved. Within the area where the crop roots are distributed, the deeper the depth of the plot, the more suitable it is for the growth of crops, and the higher the yield per mu. Deep ploughing and deep loosening techniques have very significant effects on soil improvement in saline-alkali land, deep root growth of crops, and increased production and income.
