What are the advantages of single-engine truck cranes?

If only a single engine is used, first of all, the vehicle body weight will be at least 1.5 tons lighter. This can not only reduce fuel consumption during driving, but also reduce fatigue damage to the chassis and extend the service life of the equipment. Secondly, compared with the double-engine models of the same basic configuration, single-engine truck cranes are generally priced 100,000 to 150,000 yuan lower, which can more directly relieve the pressure on users.

Dual engines are more fuel-efficient, but why is it not recommended?

Brother Chong obtained the real data of 100 130-ton single and double engine truck cranes in the background for calculation and found that the double engine is indeed fuel-efficient, but the fuel-saving effect is more obvious under the monthly subscription (i.e., when the engine of the truck works continuously for a long time). At present, cranes with a capacity of 100 to 130 tons mainly do loose work (with the lower engine working most of the time), and the fuel-saving effect of double engines is greatly reduced.

Based on an annual working period of 10 months, an average monthly working hours on the vehicle (20 days ×6 hours per day), and an average monthly mileage of 500 kilometers off the vehicle, the average monthly fuel consumption of the single-engine model reaches 480 liters, while that of the dual-engine model is only about 240 liters. This can save approximately 12,000 yuan in fuel costs each year.

However, the double-engine car sling counterweight has a relatively poor long-distance driving ability, and the cost of transporting the counterweight is higher. Based on renting the flatbed truck three times a month at 850 yuan each time and working for 10 months a year, the annual investment in the flatbed truck for the dual-engine model is approximately 25,000 yuan. After offsetting the fuel cost savings, an additional 13,000 yuan is actually needed.

Therefore, Sany's 130-ton truck crane adheres to a single-engine design to adapt to the lifting market dominated by loose work.

If the price of a single engine is lower, how about its performance?

Doing loose work requires frequent travel to various places. To reduce the cost of transporting counterweights, Sany has specially enhanced the ability to transfer equipment with counterweights.

The high-strength steel large cross-section frame, 3-meter-wide custom heavy-duty axle, 445 heavy-duty tires, and thickened and reinforced suspension leaf springs, all these powerful components are combined to enhance the chassis' load-bearing capacity from the conventional 78-ton class to nearly 90 tons. It has achieved the capability of rapid site transfer with a 31t counterweight and a pad. Combined with the rearward movement of the counterweight, a single machine can cover conventional hundred-ton working conditions.

In addition, the main arms of both models feature a 2.0 version oval cross-section, with the slider clearance reduced and optimized to 18mm. The average cross-sectional area of the 2nd to 8th arm segments increased by 2.3%, and the circumference of the last arm segment increased by 7.1%. The manufacturing process of the oval cross-section is very complex and the cost is also high. The reason why Sany is willing to insist on adopting it is that its cross-section is thicker, the rigidity is increased by 20%, and the bending and torsional resistance is stronger. When performing high-frequency conditions with fully extended arms, the performance is improved by 8%.

When purchasing a new piece of equipment, one should not only consider the lifting performance, but also weigh the operating costs and calculate the payback period.
