A W4-60 excavator stopped due to the excessive rotation of its boom during the unloading process, which caused the boom to lose its stability and led to a tear at the bottom shaft sleeve of the boom, resulting in its shutdown. For this reason, we adopted the "splint rib fixation" method to weld and reinforce it.

First, disassemble it using the "drilling and borrowing light" method. It should be noted that to remove the boom, the pin shaft must be withdrawn. The traditional disassembly method is to first lift the cab away and then withdraw the axle. This not only wastes time but is also unsafe and cannot be repaired quickly. The "drilling and borrowing light" method for disassembly is very effective. That is, drill a 16mm diameter hole at the position of the pin shaft in the driver's cabin (the hole is close to the edge of the pin shaft, which is convenient for inserting the iron bridge to push out the pin shaft and also makes it easier to accurately align the shaft and the hole during installation.) In the wild or field combat conditions, a small hole can also be cut by gas cutting. This method can save 80% of the time compared with traditional methods and is safe and reliable.

Then, it is repaired by welding with the "splint rib fixation" method. First, heat the area to be welded with an oxygen-acetylene flame, then calibrate it with a press and clean the surface oil stains and dirt. The E5016 low-hydrogen potassium type electrode is adopted, with a core diameter of 3.2mm. It is connected in reverse DC with a current of 100A. First spot weld the front side, then the back side, and finally the side side to reduce deformation. After the overall welding is completed, remove the welding slag and check the formation of the weld seam. Then, use an Angle grinder to smooth out the protruding parts of the welding area to facilitate the reinforcement of the board. Two iron plates with specifications of 300mm×100mm×10mm are used for "clamping rib fixation", and the side is reinforced with iron plates with specifications of 150mm×100mm×10mm. The welding current is adjusted to 110A, the lap joint is joined, the electrode Angle is adjusted to 45 degrees, and the electrode is moved in a straight line to form in one go. Then, the welding slag is removed.

Finally, the "moving by bullet train" method was adopted for installation. Use cranes, loaders or excavators and other machines to lift one end of the welded boom. At the same time, start the excavator to be repaired (note to connect the inlet and return oil pipes to prevent oil leakage) and move it to align the pin holes of the base with the boom sleeve holes, then lower the boom. Check the alignment position of the boom pin sleeve hole and the base pin hole through the small hole drilled in the cab, and then slowly hammer the pin shaft into the pin sleeve hole to complete the installation. This hoisting method not only reduces the weight but also ensures safety, making installation more convenient and efficient. You are responsible for the consequences of the news you post.
