Two common mistakes that occur during the repair and operation of air compressors
Installation of the oil scraper ring
In the repair of single-acting air compressors, repairers often fail to pay attention to the assembly direction of the oil scraper ring, thus causing incorrect installation. Most of these air compressors are lubricated by splashed lubricating oil, but the amount of oil splashed onto the working surface of the cylinder is difficult to control. If there is too much lubricating oil and the flash point of the lubricating oil is relatively low, it not only increases the consumption of lubricating oil but also easily forms carbon deposits at the exhaust valve, channels and ring grooves, etc., affecting the normal operation of the air compressor. If the lubricating oil enters the air system and cannot be discharged in time, the mixture of air and oil vapor may catch fire. Therefore, the assembly direction of the oil scraper ring must be correct. Meanwhile, in order to ensure that the scraped engine oil can flow smoothly back to the oil pan, corresponding oil return holes are opened on the piston skirt below the oil scraper ring, allowing the lubricating oil to return to the oil pan and then to the crankcase
2. Selection of lubricating oil
The lubricating oil used for domestic air compressors is in accordance with the SYB1216-60S standard, and the grades are HS-13 and HS-19 air compressor oil. From the perspective of viscosity, the HS-19 grade is generally used in summer and the HS-13 grade in winter. However, some operators do not attach importance to the correct selection of cylinder lubricating oil. Whether in summer or winter, as long as it is lubricated with oil, it is fine. If HS-13 grade lubricating oil is selected in summer, due to the high ambient temperature and the corresponding high temperature of the air compressor, the viscosity of the lubricating oil will decrease. In this way, on the one hand, it is not conducive to the establishment of the lubricating oil film and the load-carrying capacity decreases, which is likely to cause the piston rings to scratch the cylinder. On the other hand, it is not conducive to the sealing of the cylinder and is prone to air leakage. Conversely, if HS-19 grade lubricating oil is used in winter, its viscosity will be too high, increasing the movement resistance of the air compressor piston and piston rings and raising the energy consumption of the compressor.
