The half shaft of a crawler bulldozer is usually pressed in with a force of over 400kN and pulled out with specialized equipment. In factories without dedicated equipment, methods such as jack ejection, oxygen blowing cutting, and boring with boring machines are adopted for processing. The process is complex, the success rate is low and the labor intensity is high. We have summarized a simple and feasible method for disassembly and assembly.

When disassembling, first remove all parts of the side reduction device, then use the old support wheel housing 2 without an inner bearing sleeve to fit onto the half shaft 1, and tie a rope about 2 meters long to the support wheel housing. Fit a pad 3 at the end of the half shaft and tighten the fixed nut 4 at the end, with a torque of no less than 0.3k·N. Two people use a rope to pull the idler wheel housing 2 to strike the pad plate 3, thereby pulling out the half shaft 1.

When assembling, the nut 2 can be made first. Tighten it at the outer end of half shaft 1. While hitting the nut with a heavy object, tighten the lock nut on the inner side of the half shaft at the same time, and it can be smoothly installed.
